Joy Nelson

Joy has served in the financial services industry for over 25 years. She draws on that experience and her passion for helping others daily as she enhances our client experience and helps to ensure things are seamless behind the scenes for you.

Joy began her career working for a life insurance agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota, supervising an account management team and helping grow the staff sevenfold. She then struck out on her own as a life and health insurance broker for the next 15 years, writing individual life, disability, and long-term care insurance policies as well as installing group employee benefit programs within a niche client network of nonprofit organizations. Joy then served as Director of Marketing for a large insurance agency in Nashville for nine years before moving back to Minneapolis to assist a financial advisor with new business processing and customer service for over 600 clients. She held that position for six years until joining the Atrium team in 2023.

Joy resides in Minneapolis and is an artist, lover of books and music, and an active participant in most of the wonders of the outdoors that Minnesota offers. She has a large network of friends and business associates that always inspire each other to try new things. Joy has served on various businesses’ boards of directors for 17 years, has served as a volunteer at her local Chamber of Commerce, has organized and volunteered in several local charity fundraising events, and is passionate about assisting others in her community with projects to help them prosper. Joy considers working with people and helping others to be both a strength and a gift.
